馃寧Chinese nets have a fulcrum and counterweights to balance the net and fish load. When not in use, the net and its frame are suspended above the water. The nets are gently lowered into the water. It is left in the water for five to twenty minutes before being lifted slowly, thereby catching fish swimming near the shore. When it rises, the first thing that rises is the corners, so that the net takes the shape of a bowl with the fish inside. They are located in the city of Kochi (formerly Cochin) in India, whose beaches, on either side of the cove, are lined with Chinese cantilevered beam fishing nets.
