🌍 On the western shore of Inle Lake, in the heart of the jungle of Myanmar (Burma), is the small town of Indein, with hundreds of ancient pagodas in a multitude of shapes, sizes and in various states of ruin. Around the town we find two groups of ancient pagodas, Nyaung Ohak and Shwe Inn Thein. Most of the pagodas here have not been restored and are in various states of repair. Some are well preserved, while others have plants and trees that grow outside of them. The pagodas are decorated with stucco carvings adorned with mythical animals, “Devas” (celestial beings) and “Chinthe” (mythical lions).
🌎 En la costa occidental del lago Inle, en el corazón de la selva de Myanmar (Birmania), se encuentra el pequeño pueblo de Indein, con cientos de pagodas antiguas con multitud de formas, tamaños y en diversos estados de ruina. Alrededor del pueblo encontramos dos grupos de pagodas antiguas, Nyaung Ohak y Shwe Inn Thein. La mayoría de las pagodas aquí no han sido restauradas y se encuentran en varios estados de reparación. Algunos están bien conservados, mientras que otros tienen plantas y árboles que crecen fuera de ellos. Las pagodas están decoradas con tallas de estuco adornadas de animales míticos, “Devas” (seres celestiales) y “Chinthe” (leones míticos).
